What's Mentamove®?

Mentamove® is an effective treatment for stroke patients, using the method of neuroplasticity, training intact areas (Neurons) of the brain to take over lost functions of the damaged areas caused by a stroke, cerebral palsy or other lesions of the nervous system.

How does Mentamove® work?

Mentamove® combines two proven therapies. The first therapy is the use of EMG (Electromyography-the signal between your brain and muscle) triggered muscle stimulation.
The second proven therapy used by the Mentamove is mental practice, which increases the EMG to trigger the muscle stimulation.

Who can benefit from the Mentamove® therapy?
Mentamove® is an effective treatment for stroke patients, using the method of neuroplasticity, training intact areas (Neurons) of the brain to take over lost functions of the damaged areas caused by a stroke, cerebral palsy or other lesions of the nervous system.

Mentamove® can be used at home as part of your daily rehabilitation programme recommended by your healthcare professional. Mentamove® can be used immediately following or even years after a stroke.

Mentamove® combines two proven therapies. The first therapy is the use of EMG (electromyography - the signal between your brain and muscle) triggered muscle stimulation.

The second proven therapy used by Mentamove® is mental practice, which increases the EMG to trigger the muscle stimulation. Both of these therapies have been used successfully in the rehabilitation of patients with paralysis or weakness post stroke (cerebral vascular accident or CVA).

Mentamove® greatly improves your chance of successful rehabilitation by combining these two proven therapies.

 How does Mentamove® work

Mentamove® is based on the theory of neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity is the ability of the Central Nervous System to "relearn" basic functions that it was able to do before the stroke. Mentamove® is a fantastic, user friendly addition to your post-stroke rehabilitation program.

Is Mentamove® easy to use?
Yes! The Mentamove® device is easy to use, even at home. Electrodes are applied to the surface of your skin above the targeted muscle group. The electrodes measure the EMG which is increased when you mentally practice a functional movement. The Mentamove® device then applies a comfortable electrical stimulation to activate the targeted muscle. This stimulation is activated my mental activity alone. There is no physical activity involved when you do your training.
